CNC Operator

Position Summary

The CNC Operator is responsible for ensuring our company produces quality parts specific to engineering drawings and client standards.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Set-up and manage CNC machines to perform different jobs including drilling, grinding and milling.
  2. Translate engineering drawings and requirements into dimensions for production.
  3. Ensure the CNC machine operates in accordance with the guidelines of the company. 
  4. Oversee the machine while it executes the tasks and make the necessary changes to produce improved results.
  5. Check machinery on a daily basis to guarantee functionality.
  6. Record all machine actions by completing production and quality logs.
  7. Communicate logistics issues that arise in the process of creating a part.
  8. Ensure that results of machining process align with client expectations.
  9. Conduct regular CNC machine assessments and maintenance.
    1. Adjust and reprogram controls.
    2. Sharpen and/or replace worn tools.
    3. Call for repairs when needed.
  10. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  11. Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications & Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Knowledge and understanding of proper terms and vocabulary common to the construction field.
  • Ability to quickly use addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Be able to accurately take measurements and have the knowledge to use various scale conversions.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Assess and resolve minor problems.
  • Commitment to adhere to our companies safety rules and guidelines by attending all required meetings and certification training.
  • Knowledge of Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI) standards.
  • Knowledge of the CNC machining processes of drilling, milling, and turning.
  • Able to operate bridge saws, splitters, forklifts, and cranes.
  • Knowledge of different measuring tools, power tools, and equipment utilized in the tile and stone industry.
  • Ability to adapt to and accept constructive feedback and implement necessary corrections in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail.

 

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED (Preferred)
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience as a CNC Machine Operator preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

 

Physical Requirements  

  • The employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time.
  • The employee will frequently require the use of their hands to handle objects, tools, or controls of various machinery.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, ability to distinguish between colors, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work in physically demanding jobs that include standing, kneeling, bending, lifting 50+ pounds regularly and working at varying heights.
