The MHST Main Building Scope

♦ What we did

The Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant main building went up in the 1970s. Its stone and concrete masonry exterior had never been painted. J.E. Travis Painting wasn’t refreshing an old finish. The team was putting down the first one, on a surface that had taken decades of Texas weather.

The main building was one of two MHST projects J.E. Travis Painting completed for Methodist Hospital System under Keller Martin. Large scale exterior work where logistics and sequencing mattered as much as the finish itself.

Decades of weather and no paint. We put down the first finish this building ever had.

♦ The Challenges

Access drove everything. Interior courtyards limited lift use, so crews worked ladders in tight zones. Some walls carried an existing anti graffiti coating that had to come off before the new system would bond. The taller elevations went on swing stages, which meant safety certification and tight coordination, since most crews don’t run swing stages day to day. All of it happened on an active hospital campus. The result is a clean, durable exterior built for a high traffic medical facility.
